Full Mouth Reconstruction

A dental full mouth reconstruction is more than just getting 28 dental crowns.  Dental full mouth reconstruction is a major decision, and a major life improvement.
When a person needs a full mouth dental reconstruction, it is because they have prematurely worn away their teeth.  When your current teeth are no longer functioning correctly, have become worn out, and have become “part of the problem” instead of “part of the solution”, then it is sometimes preferable to completely rebuild your teeth, starting from scratch.

Simply placing 28 dental crowns will only solve half of their dental problem.  Dr. Bayne wants to find out why your current teeth wore away in the first place, solve these problems, and incorporate these solutions into your final product.

When Dr. Bayne discovers why the first set of teeth wore out prematurely, he can then correct those problems and comfortably fabricate a new set of teeth that will last much longer. Incorporating preventive dentistry into your full mouth reconstruction facilitates increased longevity of the dental reconstruction as well as increased neuromuscular comfort.

Proper planning is the key to a successful outcome.  Dr. Bayne’s planning phase is very complete and thorough, and once the problem solving and planning phase is complete, it is time to move on to actually going through with the plan.

“I love it when a plan comes together!”
-George Peppard (as Col. John “Hannibal” Smith, on "The A-Team")

Detailed, comprehensive, interdisciplinary dentistry can sometimes be performed completely in our office.

Sometimes, an especially involved or complex case may require a Team Effort, with your general dentist, restorative, reconstructive, and cosmetic dentist, and trusted members of his Team, possibly including an oral surgeon, an endodontist, a periodontist, and perhaps a prosthodontist. Your dental full mouth reconstruction is going to be different than everyone else’s full mouth reconstruction. Your dental needs are different and unique.  Dr. Bayne has many tools to address those needs and to comfortably deliver to you the very best end result, which often is more comprehensive than just getting 28 new crowns.

Full mouth reconstructions often utilize an interdisciplinary approach, so orthodontics (tooth straightening), endodontics (pulpal therapy), oral surgery (extractions) and periodontal therapy (gums and jawbone) and implant dentistry may be involved in the process of prosthodontic dentistry.  This means that the restorative, reconstructive and cosmetic dentist may incorporate specialists, such as orthodontists, endodontists, oral surgeons, implant dentists, and prosthodontists into the team of people who will be giving you a full mouth reconstruction.  This interdisciplinary approach has one goal in mind: to give you the very best, most comfortable, longest lasting, best looking and best performing, most reliable dental full mouth reconstruction possible, given your individual dental situation and needs.

The final phase of dental full mouth reconstruction is Utilization.  Dr. Bayne wants you to enjoy your new teeth and smile for many decades. The Utilization phase should last for many decades.  Now that your new bite and smile are complete, Dr. Bayne recommends that you utilize them to the fullest extent possible, including but not limited to: eating your favorite foods and chewing your delicious food well to maximize flavor and aid digestion; smiling and grinning as much as possible to let your true personality shine through; enunciate your words, especially consonants, without lisping.

Care and maintenance of a dental full mouth reconstruction involves brushing your teeth with fluoride toothpaste two or three times daily, flossing your teeth daily, and having a professional dental cleaning at least twice a year to keep your dental full mouth reconstruction healthy and handsome for many years to come.
