We care about you! Digital X-Rays have 90% less radiation than conventional X-Rays. The exposure level to you as a patient is significantly reduced.

More than that, however, is the superior diagnostic ability that Digital X-Rays provide. We can see things that were not possible to see before. Areas that would be unclear or un diagnostic on conventional X-Rays are easily visualized when the high-resolution images are on a 19" Medical Grade monitor, or a 42" 1080i.

Digital Pano X-rays can visualize all of your teeth, your jawbone, nerves and your sinus. Additionally, we can image your TMJ (jaw joint) and other structures of the head and neck. Digital Bitewing X-rays can diagnose cavities, as well as gum disease and the bone disease periodontitis.

See for yourself - these images were taken of a new patient to Paradise Valley Cosmetic Dental, who has not yet been treated by Dr. Bayne. We do images like these every day, and we can do the same for you!

As you can see, Digital X-Rays are fantastic! The diagnostic ability is unsurpassed; and, best of all, the radiation that you receive is absolutely minimal. Digital X-Rays are the safest, best method available to diagnose dental issues that are invisible to the naked eyes. We can now see things that we were not ever able to see before.

As far as radiation is concerned, Dr. Bayne subscribes to the ALARA principle, which means "As Low As Reasonable Achievable". It is part of the underlying philosophy of Paradise Valley Cosmetic Dental, which is to always keep YOUR best interests at heart.

Common questions people have about Digital X-Rays:

What if your computer hard drive crashes? We back up our computers every day, with onsite and offsite backups. Patterson Dental Technology is the best in the business, and they have installed a detailed and extensive backup system with over 1.5 Tb (Terabytes) of secure, redundant backup.

Is my data secure? Yes. Our computers are equipped with 128-bit encryption, so that even if someone were to physically steal our computers, they could not access them. Also, there are multiple hardware firewalls, so that it would be very very difficult for a hacker to break into the computer system.

How much does it cost? The same as conventional X-Rays. Although the technology and equipment cost much more than conventional X-Ray systems, we do not charge more for Digital X-Rays. Most Digital Pano's cost about $150, and most Digital Bitewing X-Rays cost about $100 or so. A "full-mouth series" of 18 Digital X-rays includes the Digital Bitewings and costs about the same as a Digital Pano X-ray.

Is it covered by dental insurance? Usually, as it directly affects your Dental health. Most Dental Insurance covers the majority of the cost of a Digital Pano X-Ray every 3-5 years, and the majority of the cost of Digital Bitewing X-rays yearly. A "full-mouth series" is usually covered every 5 years. Check the paperwork that came with your individual policy to determine the exact timeframe and rates of coverage.
