Frequently Asked Questions
What is a dental implant?
A dental implant is a small piece of titanium that acts as an artificial tooth root to repair or restore a single tooth or multiple teeth to proper function and esthetics.
-Why are veneers more expensive at a Cosmetic Dentistry office than at my Family Dentist?
The premium materials at the Cosmetic dentist cost more and are of a higher quality. It is your body. For those people that want the best materials placed in their body by the most highly trained highly skilled and experienced dentist, then it is worth it.
The ceramics and porcelains used by Dr. Bayne are of the highest quality available in the world, and are shaped by some of the best and most highly regarded ceramists in the USA. So of course it is 10-30% more than you would pay for generic materials placed by a volume dental office.
The true cosmetic restorative dentist undergoes hundreds of hours of extra training every year. This results in a more qualified, better trained dentist for you.
The true Cosmetic and Restorative Dentist like Dr. Bayne is not juggling seven dental patients at once and running from chair to chair. The true cosmetic dentist puts extraordinary care into your treatment and devotes more individualized time to your dental care. This results in extraordinary results.
A general dentist or a Family slash Cosmetic Dentist has multiple chairs with many patients being hustled through the practice. Also, through PPO and Capitation plans, many Family slash Cosmetic Dentists are paid monthly by the dental insurance companies whether they have patients in the chair or not.
You get what you pay for. If you want individualized care and natural looking results that will probably last for the rest of your life, then Dr. Bayne would love to help you. If you would like the cheapest possible treatment, then there is always going to be someone out there somewhere that is less expensive.
-What makes Bayne dentistry unique and stylish?
The care and attention to detail that Dr. Bayne provides is unrivalled. Dr. Bayne believes that open lines of communication between himself and the people he cares for is one of the best ways to ensure a positive dental outcome. When you are in Dr. Bayne’s care, he is not some unapproachable mystery man. He gives you his cell phone number, work email, personal email, everything you need so that if you ever have a question, he’s right there to help. Also, he is a great listener. When a person says they want a certain thing, he calls on his years of experience and special training to make it happen.
Mostly, though, it’s his results.
When you want dental treatment that will probably last for the rest of your life, Dr. Bayne is the go to dentist in Scottsdale.
-What kind of warranty or guarantee to I get?
Pretty much all of our work is guaranteed with a 5 year no questions asked satisfaction guarantee. The failure rate of Dr. Bayne’s dental work is so low as to be statistically insignificant. Because breakage or failure occurs so rarely, we can easily afford to replace it on these rare occurrences. Because our dental work does not fail, we are dependent on new people coming in for care. It is part of the dental patient’s responsibility to refer new people to our office for dental care, because we won’t be doing “touch-ups” or “patches” every six months once we have completed treatment. Once we have finished, we are usually done with treatment, aside from routine cleanings. “Patches” and “repairs” are not a significant part of our business. We depend on and appreciate your referrals.
-Will my dental insurance cover the cost?
Dental Insurance may take some of the sting out of the cost of dental treatment; however, dental insurance won’t cover the entire cost. Your dental insurance company doesn’t care if you have worn down yellow teeth. Full mouth reconstructions are usually outside the scope of most dental insurance policies. Dental veneers are not covered. Yes, cleanings and maintenance are usually covered, and our office accepts most major dental insurance plans for X-rays and cleanings.
-Safety and Sterilization
All dental offices do not have the same elevated standards of sterilization that Dr. Bayne has. This may sound shocking, but merely meeting the government minimums for safety and sterilization just doesn’t cut it anymore. When you are considering choosing a new dental office, don’t be shy. Ask to see their sterilization center. They should be proud of it and should be able to brag about how many germs they can kill. Warning signs are: sterilization centers that are really just an autoclave sitting on the lunchroom countertop. Also watch out for inadequate cleaning off of bio matter prior to sterilization (this just bakes it on, but does not kill germs). Avoid sterilization of wet instruments: this leads to inadequate sterilization. Are clean instruments fresh from the sterilizer placed on the same dirty countertop that the dirty instruments were just sitting on? Does the sterilization area look clean enough to eat off of? It’s your body. Be safe.
